Pre-Season Preparation

The steps to prepare for the Lacrosse season are the same for both the JV and Varsity players.  The following is an overview of steps involved in the preseason process.

  • Register for Tryouts All Prospective players are requested to register here on the Davis Lacrosse Association Website.  When you register, parents will be required to select two volunteer position choices.  Be sure to review these positions beforehand.
  • DHS Boy's Lacrosse Handbook contains additional information for our lacrosse Student Athletes.  The handbook contains an additional form to be submitted at the Parent / Player Meeting. Students need to return this form to the coaches to be eligible to participate in Lacrosse tryouts.
  • Blue Devil Athletics Online Registration  All Blue Devis athletes are now required to complete online registration through DHS to obtain clearance to participate. This replaces the paperwork that was required in previous years. Additional information and instructions can be found here. Please see the DHS Athletic Pages for complete information on the requirements for our Spring 2018 athletes. The DHS ATHLETIC HANDBOOKS include handbooks describing the player's responsibilities as a student athlete, and parent/coach communication. Students who have not completed these requirements will NOT be allowed to participate in Lacrosse tryouts or Captain's Practices.

Captains' Practices

DHS requires that all forms required for participating be submitted and the clearance card issued by the Athletic Office before a player may participate in Captain's practices.  Captain's practices will start late-November and continue into January, at the DHS stadium field.

Players will need to bring both running shoes and cleats as well as equipment.  There will be more information sent out to those players whom are registered for the Spring Season.  If the player is not registered, then they may not be receiving updates.

Tryouts wil be in early February at the Davis Senior High School Stadium field.  The DHS Athletics pages will include information regarding the final spring sport schedule.  Preparation information is available in the DHS Men's Lacrosse Handbook.

Davis Senior High School Athletic Program Donation Request

Fundraising is an important component of community support that helps enrich the Davis Joint Unified School District’s educational athletic programs at every level. The Board of Education appreciates such contributions and encourages the participation of parents and community members in helping achieve the district’s vision for student learning.

An important goal of fundraising is to secure equitable opportunities for all DJUSD students, regardless of ability to pay. The district has worked closely with parent groups to develop fundraising guidelines consistent with the laws governing public education and with state-recognized best practices. Offering the highest standards of athletic programs comes at a cost that cannot be completely funded by the school district completely. Each program has essential costs associated, of which are fund-raised for.

It is the goal of the DSHS Athletic Department to be as transparent for our parents and
community regarding donations. It is our hope you will find this letter useful understanding
the totality of the boy's lacrosse program.

The boy's lacrosse program has chosen to fundraise this year to support the costs associated with providing equitable opportunities for ALL student-athletes. The cost for the boy's lacrosse program totals approximately $20,000. We are asking for your generosity in the form of a donation to the program in the amount of $300.

The funds will be used for: goals, nets, balls and safety equipment; funding for assistant coaching positions; practice pinnies, shooter shirts and other player equipment.

No student will be denied participation based on their ability to donate.

Additional funds come from fundraising events incluing our annual fall olive oil sales.  Please support our fundraising events.

Contributions can be turned in at our parent/athlete meetings or sent by mail. Make checks payable to: DHS Boys Lacrosse and mailed to:

In Season Information

Conditioning is an important part of Lacrosse preparation. Players can use the Blue Devil Strength and Conditioning Packet as a guideline for a training schedule in the off season to prepare, as well as during the season to stay on top of the game.

Players and Parents should read the Student Athlete  Nutrition and Hydration Guidelines. Sleep, proper nutrition, and constant hydration are the keys to enhancing athletic performance.

Lacrosse is a fast and exciting sport that is wonderful for all spectators.  It can be confusing for newcomers to the game, so parents may want to acquaint themselves with the game by reading Lacrosse 101, a brief but engaging introduction to Men's lacrosse.

During the course of the season, our tireless volunteers upload wonderful photos to both JV and Varsity shutterfly Accounts.  Access information will be provided when the sites are available.  This year we plan to make some videos available as well.  The players will also be able to access team and personal statistics throughout the game.

Lacrosse Uniforms and Equipment

The Davis High School lacrosse team provides each player with the following:

  • Two uniform jersey’s (blue for away and white for home games)
  • One reversible pinnie
  • Two pairs of team shorts

In order to insure the quality of the lacrosse uniforms, it is imperative that these instructions be followed:

  1. Launder the jerseys, shorts and pinnie in cold water, using a mild detergent.
  4. HANG DRY; do not place in the dryer.

Davis team colors are White and Royal Blue. Helmet colors are White helmet body with Royal Blue bill/visor and Royal Blue chin strap. Cascade brand is recommended.
